Creating Rickrack Embellishments From Pre-made Ribbons in Gimp

1. Start by opening your selected ribbon in Gimp.
2. Next go to Image->Canvas Size... Set your height to about 1000. This may be a big large, but I prefer to work on a larger canvas. If you use a large canvas, you can always crop it later and you have more room. Click Resize.
3. Next go to Filters->Distorts->Ripple. Set the options to:

   The Larger the amplitude the higher the peaks. The smaller the period the closer together the peaks.

4. Lastly save the file.
