Well, it's that time of year again, SPRING! I started working on my garden. I have planted pepper plants, tomato plants, basil, marigolds, chives, onions, strawberry plants, eggplants, petunias and more. As usual I worked hard to search for the most unusual vegetable plants I could find. I have purple basil, purple sweet peppers, yellow tomatoes, purple string beans, purple green and white cauliflower, purple carrots, orange tomatoes, and more.
My favorite flowers this year are osteospermum, aka Cape Daisies or African Daisies. Last year, I found some light yellow daisies with purple centers with which I fell in love. Sadly they were annuals, so this year I did my homework and realized they are osteospermum. My goal for this year is to find and buy 1 of each color of osteospormum I can find. So far I have 3 different purples and 3 different yellows. Osteospermum come in so many colors and varieties I could never have them all. I currently don't have any spoon varieties and I haven't seen any orange for sale.
In addition to my Osteospermum I found a beautiful new hibiscus. It is called a blue hibiscus, but it has the most beautiful PURPLE flowers. Since hibiscus has a tendency to do well in Texas, I bought 3 of these plants and I hope the do well. The flowers are a smaller than a typical hibiscus.
